Flint Street- Montford

Project Description:

Our Clients chose to breathe new life into a vacant city lot in the the middle of the Montford Historic District.  They made a conscious decision to create a home that was a producer, not just a consumer.  The primary heat source for their home is a wood burning soapstone heater with a bread oven built in.  Their electricity is partially supplied by the sun through PV panels, as well and their hot water through solar thermal panels.  They make their own cheese in a cheese cave in their basement.  They even went as far as to have all of their cabinets, their staircase, and their dining room table made from a standing dead black-walnut from their back yard.
